Book 4 in the Apocalypse Law series continues the saga of ex-Army Ranger Nate Williams and his son Brian as they struggle to survive in a post-apocalyptic world. A plague of mysterious origin has swept around the globe, killing most of the human population. Nate and his son have survived over a year in this lawless world, while becoming entangled in the troubles of others, putting their lives in danger to help bring peace to their county. The Army finally moves in and establishes control, yielding a heavy hand, but lives are saved with their food and medical services. Along with the Army, Deni and other old friends return, and new enemies appear, threatening a tenuous peace and the beginnings of law and justice.

Apocalypse Law 4 Raw Justice Volume 4 John Grit Books

Another great page turner by Mr. Grit. From page one to the last, the action is intense, with many new twists and turns added via this series.

After a year, the Army and NG are finally taking a more prominant stance within some communities. Donovan and his group are doing their best in trying to help establish a more solid foundational society, yet having to be torn between military orders from above and standing true to the survivors within their community. It's kind of a catch-22 for them.

And then, what's left of the government mindset out of D.C. is; let's tax everyone and take what we need to survive, from those who worked so hard to provide the means to survive. Mr. Grit has brought us the beginnings of economic recovery in AL4, but it's obvious that what is left of any government is strictly building upon a socialistic foundaton...or so it seems.

Nate & Brian continue to recover from injuries and wounds and eventually meet back up with Deni and Caroline.

There is only one scenerio at the very beginning that didn't make sense to me. Through all the other books, Mr. Grit has projected Nate as a man who looks at every situation with logic and common sense, with reason and focus. Yet, Nate is recovering from a severe head wound and obviously has a concussion. Nate is stumbling from his bed, leaning against the wall for support, is still dizzy and unbalanced, but Mr. Grit has Nate, Brian and Kendell get into his truck to drive to town. Even as Nate is driving into town, his vision is blurry and he is trying to stay on the road. And then, due to his lack of visual acuity, tragedy strikes. This part of the story was waaaaaay out of character for Nate. Why didn't he have Kendell drive when he "knew" he felt the way he did? And then, after it was all done and over with, not another word about it. It was portrayed as "an accident" and, that was just the way life was nowadays. Anyway...just seemed out of place for Mr. Grit to place Nate in that kind of a situation.

Even so, I enjoyed this latest episode in the AL saga. Looking forward to AL5.

Apocalypse Law 4 Raw Justice Volume 4 John Grit Books Reviews

The most critical flaw in the third and fourth volume is the editing. Oh no, you say not another English major! Nope, I am a geneticist.
I do wish the third and fourth novels had the attention of a real editor rather than to rely entirely upon a spell checker program. A good editor would strike out tedious repetitions, and catching the obvious spell checking errors. e.g. "There" rather than "their", "weather" rather than "whether", etc. Believe it or not, these errors occuring every couple of pages tends to slow down the excitement of the most excellent action...as you are caught up in trying to make sense of the mistypings. This failing is crucial in slowing down suspense in this otherwise rousing good tale.
Unlike many of the survivalist novels the rant against the establishment is kept to a minimum and one has to at times guess at the motivations of the author. It does not allow ideology to get in the way of a rousing good plot. Other than some minor disagreements philosophically with the aspects of global warming.
Having just finished the fourth volume of this really good series, the fourth book leaves me wanting more. The characters are well drawn, and the action and character development are excellent. As a former military brat, fourth generation, I appreciate that the military is not made the fall guy, and is a mix of good and bad, officers and noncoms.
Please go for a decent editor for the fifth volume, and keep up the good plot lines!
John Grit did better with book 4 than he did with book 3.

Not at all worthy as a 'stand-alone' book, you'll need to read the series from book 1 forward. But well worth following it. I feel it is a very realistic depiction of a possible future facing us. One I'd not want to live in, yet an exciting read nonetheless.
Makes me realize the need to get some
more ammo but building an impenetrable storm cellar is out. First, I don't have the time and second, the money. Been storing resources for three years though. Now if I had become an army ranger instead of intelligence agent I would be ready.... but who knew? Methods of interrogation may just be useful some day.
Waterboarding is for sissies. Blood,Bones, and needles work EVERYTIME!
This series has had its ups and more downs then the good people in it deserves. Living in what should be a place to be able to provide food for millions is turned into a ice box only able to provide food for the few months when the weather permits. This is one thing I find hard to understand, because if it gets that extreme in Florida what's it like in northern states that can produced food before the plague? And what about the state's farther west, only dealing with the people in this location makes me want to know what's going on outside of Florida. Not to mention the demands made by a fragmented government of power mad politicians devoid of what they know idea is going on outside of their tight knit clic.
